Digital Thinkers was founded by Gabriel Vlad
at the time he was
completing his 'apprenticeship' with
Motorola and 3Com.
Using the ideas and the experience acquired there,
Gabe - an experienced European electrical engineer
with complementary American degrees in computer
science and mathematics - started envisioning
a low-overhead, dynamic group of mature engineers who
would pool together their expertise, knowledge and
professional relationships, this time not
in the cubicles of another super-corporation but as
independent providers of superior engineering
solutions - as simple as possible - to problems -
as complex as they get in the real world.
Embarked on pioneering projects for companies like
Motorola, Shure Communications, 3Com,
Quantum Data, Unique Broadband Systems, Elektrobit,
Cadant/Arris and others, the initial group of
engineers helped Digital Thinkers grow
steadily over the years, gradually fulfilling
Gabe's original vision.
Digital Thinkers is a lightweight organization,
with very low overhead. The company does not
employ expensive management, does not pay for
advertising - all contracts are obtained
through referrals from satisfied clients or other
professional acquaintances, and does not go
through middlemen - instead, it establishes very
close relationships directly with its clients
(in fact, given the complexity of some
projects, they were completed in large part
at client sites). The income stream is used
mainly to reward
the team members
for their efforts and to purchase equipment and
software that allows engineers to stay
continuously in touch with their clients.
The Digital Thinkers
team
consists of engineers with backgrounds ranging from
mathematics to hardware/software engineering and
business application development, who
have crossed ways as employees or consultants for
American super-corporations. Over the years they have
independently built a solid reputation as providers
of solutions to the most demanding needs in the
embedded software arena.
The original team has extensive experience in
the full software development cycle of
real-time
embedded systems, covering all areas of
circuit-switched and packet-switched
hardware, FPGA and software,
telephony, speech recognition and
processing, to name just a few.
The application programming group was created
to ensure that the company can offer its clients a
one-stop-shopping
experience, starting with the boot code and ending
with element managers, HTTP-based reporting systems,
visual monitoring tools and any other
information-processing and archival needs.
If the past is any predictor of the future then
